welcome to curious paradox therapy

The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.

Therapy Grounded in Experience, Curiosity, and Compassion

Bringing together psychology, mindfulness, and lived wisdom to support your growth.

I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in California, practicing since 2012. My style is relaxed and conversational, grounded in presence and mutual respect. I draw from clinical training, six years living in a Buddhist monastery, and ongoing study of Buddhist psychology and Ayurveda. I work to help you better understand your mind, emotions, relationships, and life situations—applying real-world insights through a collaborative, grounded lens.

Couples Therapy

Strengthen communication, rebuild trust, and deepen connection with compassionate couples therapy tailored to your relationship.

Family Therapy

Helping family members reconnect through clearer communication, emotional insight, and mutual understanding.

Individual Therapy

For adults navigating anxiety, ADHD, burnout, or personal transitions—therapy that supports clarity, resilience, and change.

About Rob Martin, LMFT

Therapy Isn’t About Fixing You—It’s About Finding You

I’m Rob Martin, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. For over a decade, I’ve helped individuals and families navigate the challenges that come with being human—anxiety, disconnection, ADHD, self-doubt, relationship struggles.

My approach is collaborative and grounded in curiosity. I bring together my clinical training with the perspective I’ve gained from living six years in a Buddhist monastery and studying Ayurveda. What you can expect from me is honest conversation, real-world tools, and a deep respect for your inner wisdom.

Whether you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or just searching for more clarity, I offer a space where we can explore what’s getting in the way—and what’s waiting underneath.

What Clients Say About Working With Me

"I finally feel like I understand myself."

I came in feeling overwhelmed and stuck in the same patterns. Through our work, I’ve learned how to slow down, understand what’s happening inside me, and respond differently. It’s been a real shift.

— Client

“It helped me see things differently.”

I wasn’t sure what I needed when I started, but the process helped me gain clarity about myself, my patterns, and what I actually want moving forward.

— Client

“Therapy felt natural, not forced.”

I was hesitant to start therapy, but the sessions felt like real conversations. No pressure, no judgment—just space to think clearly and work through things at my own pace.

— Client

“I have tools I actually use.”

What stood out most was how practical everything felt. I didn’t just talk—I left sessions with things I could apply in my daily life, and that made a difference quickly.

— Client

“I feel more grounded and less reactive.”

Before therapy, everything felt overwhelming. Now I’m able to pause, reflect, and respond instead of reacting. That’s changed my relationships in a big way.

— Client

“A space where I could be honest.”

This is one of the few places where I felt I didn’t have to filter myself. That alone made a huge difference in how I showed up and what I was able to work through.

Questions Are Welcome—Here Are Some I Hear Often

The first session is a conversation. We’ll talk about what’s bringing you in, what you’d like to work on, and get a sense of whether this feels like the right fit.

Yes. I offer secure telehealth sessions for clients throughout California. All you need is a private space and a stable internet connection.

Most people start with weekly sessions. From there, we can adjust based on your needs, goals, and what feels sustainable.

Session fees are $180 for a 60-minute session. I also offer a limited number of sliding-scale spots—feel free to ask about availability.

I don’t bill insurance directly, but I can provide a superbill for out-of-network reimbursement if your plan allows.

The easiest way is to schedule a free 20-minute consultation. It gives us a chance to connect, answer your questions, and see if working together feels right.
